WASHINGTON — Aug. 1, 2007 — Veteran Democratic media consultants Tad Devine and Julian Mulvey have announced the launch of their new firm, Devine Mulvey.

The firm specializes in strategic communications for U.S. and international campaigns.

“Our approach is grounded on developing clear messages, producing compelling media, and executing a disciplined communications strategy to shape public opinion and win campaigns, “ said Julian Mulvey.

Earlier this year, Devine Mulvey helped direct the communications strategy in Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern and Fianna Fáil’s comeback victory, as the Party and the Taoiseach won their third consecutive term. The News of the World called the FF victory “the greatest election comeback in this nation’s history.”  Currently, the firm is leading the media team in the campaign for Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich and the Party of Regions in the upcoming Parliamentary election in September.

“It has been my great privilege to have been part of three winning campaigns for Bertie Ahern and Fianna Fáil in Ireland. While each contest was tough, none was tougher than this past election,” said Tad Devine. “Having worked on presidential campaigns in America and around the world for over 25 years, and having produced media in races ranging from Nat Glover’s historic election as the first African-American Sheriff in Florida’s history to over a dozen winning campaigns for US Senate to eight winning campaigns for President and Prime Minister around the world, I’ve seen up close what it takes to help clients win victories in tough races.”

Tad Devine is recognized as one of the leading political consultants in America and around the world. Tad has worked at the highest levels of the last two US Presidential campaigns. In 2000, he served as a senior strategist to the Gore/Lieberman campaign and in 2004 he served as the senior advisor and strategist to the Kerry campaign. In 2006, Tad produced advertising for Bernie Sanders’ successful Senate race in Vermont and received two Pollie Awards for his work. He also worked on winning races in Rhode Island (Sheldon Whitehouse), Florida (Bill Nelson) and the DSCC Independent Expenditure for the winning Senate races in Missouri (Claire McCaskill) and New Jersey (Robert Menendez). In the past, Tad has worked on dozens of winning races for Senate, House, Governor and other local elected officials, including Senators John Edwards, Edward Kennedy, and John Kerry, Congressmen Dick Gephardt and Tom Allen, and Governor Parris Glendening. Tad has also been successful around the world, helping clients win elections in Columbia, Israel, Bolivia, Honduras, Ireland and Ukraine.

Julian Mulvey has quickly gained a reputation for creativity and innovation in political media. He has won 14 Pollie Awards from the American Association of Political Consultants and the Visionary Award from the D.C. Independent Film Festival. His television ads focus on authenticity, emotion and compelling storytelling. He won seven of the eight races he consulted on in 2006. The New York Times ranked his work in the “Top Ten Ads of the Year” and the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza praised his work in “The Best Ad of 2006?” A winner of the Gold Pollie for Best National Issue Television Ad of 2006 and Best Democratic Congressional TV Ad of 2005, Julian has also pioneered the use of online Flash animation in political campaigns. In 2002, he produced “Social Insecurity,” which was downloaded 850,000 times within 24 hours of its release, and was followed by “Lord of the Right Wing,” which was seen by over six million people. Julian was named one of Washingtonian magazine’s “People to Watch 2005,” and a Campaigns & Elections “Rising Star” in 2006.
