“Best Police Officer”
In a new ad produced for Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Patricia Tucker talks about her husband Mark, an investigator for Wake County, NC Sheriff’s Department, who was killed by a convicted felon with an illegal gun. “Mark’s mission in life was to protect the community, to be the best police officer that he could be,” she said in the ad. “While Mark and his fellow officers are out protecting the community, Congress is passing the Tiahrt amendment which would prevent law enforcement from being able to track illegal weapons and the criminals who purchase them.” The Tiahrt amendment prohibits the ATF from sharing gun trace data with local police which makes it easier for criminals to traffic illegal guns across state lines.
