“Be A Witness” is Golden!
Darfur Spot Wins Best TV Ad

“Be A Witness” won the Gold Pollie for Best Issue Advocacy & Public Affairs TV Commercial at this year’s American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) annual conference. Produced for the Center for American Progress, the spot observes the relentless focus of TV news networks on celebrity stories against the reality of the atrocities in Darfur, Sudan.
“We’re honored that the AAPC named this best National spot of the year,” says Julian Mulvey. “But unfortunately, the situation continues to deteriorate in Darfur. We must continue to look for ways to bring attention to the people and families there. Television has been a powerful force for positive change in the past. It needs to remember its leading role in public debate.”
“Issue Advocacy & Public Policy” is one of the most competitive categories in a non-election like 2005. Silver and bronze awards for this category went to The Glover Park Group and GMMB.
But that’s not all!
Our firm also took home the Silver Pollie in the U.S. House TV category for “American Values” and the Bronze Pollie in the U.S. Senate TV category for “Incredible Sacrifices,” both produced for Ohio political sensation Paul Hackett. “Sam’s Journey,” a flash animation produced for NORML, received an Honorable Mention in the category of Web Animation.
Mulvey has received 11 Pollie Awards from the AAPC. Last year, the firm won the Gold Pollie for Best TV Commercial for a Democratic Congressional Candidate with “Worst Thing.”
Julian Mulvey Group is the media consultant to Chris Murphy (CT-05), Tessa Hafen (NV-03), Chris Carney (PA-10) and Capri Cafaro (OH-13) for 2006. Last year, the firm produced ads for Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett for his Congressional and Senate races.
